  • Coking Industry: Used for the chamber walls and combustion chamber partitions of coke ovens, silica bricks are the core refractory material in coking operations.
  • Steel Smelting: Widely applied in the regenerators and settling chambers of open-hearth furnaces, as well as in the high-temperature load-bearing sections of soaking pits and hot blast stoves.
  • Glass Manufacturing: Employed as the refractory material for the crowns (arches) and other critical areas of glass melting furnaces, capable of withstanding the corrosive effects of high-temperature molten glass.
  • Ceramic Firing: Used for kiln furniture and load-bearing structures in ceramic kilns, ensuring stability throughout the product firing process.

Usage Considerations

Despite their excellent performance, certain characteristics of silica bricks must be considered during use. Their thermal shock stability is relatively poor at temperatures below 800°C. This is because the quartz within the brick undergoes crystalline phase transitions at lower temperatures, leading to volume changes. Therefore, during the heating and cooling cycles of a kiln, especially in the temperature range below 800°C, it is crucial to implement slow and controlled temperature changes to prevent cracking caused by thermal shock.
